My Nokia E63

When Nokia announced a born of Nokia E71, I was very excited and waiting for its release everyday. Nokia E71 was really the phone that I have dreaming ever, but the price made me shocking. Nokia E63 is the next QWERTY messenger, set on the glorious path of the E71 with very low price – 250 USD. The phone is basically a cheaper version of the E71: Nokia figured it had a good thing going on in that QWERTY candybar, and decided to spread the love at a lower price point, with a slightly thicker, plastic handset and no luxury accessories like E71.

The most difference between the phone and its inspiration is the inclusion of a full 3.5mm headphone jack, instead of the mini jack found on the E71. Nokia may save a lot more money in materials and manufacturing process than with the sorry removal of GPS and HSDPA.

Key features:

  • Quad-band GSM support
  • 3G support
  • Landscape 2.36″ 16M-color display of QVGA resolution
  • Symbian 9.2 OS, S60 UI with FP1 (sprinkled with some FP2)
  • 369 MHz ARM  CPU and 128 MB of SDRAM
  • Wi-Fi
  • 2 megapixel fixed focus camera with LED flash
  • 120 MB of internal memory, microSD expansion
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support
  • microUSB v2.0
  • FM radio(required bluetooth handset – I cannot turn on this feature until making a test with Bluetooth handset)
  • Comfortable full QWERTY keypad
  • Convenient shortcut keys
  • Provider-independent VoIP support
  • Office document editor
  • Nokia Maps
  • User-friendly Mode Switch for swapping two homescreen setups
  • Great battery life
  • Remote Lock and Wipe feature
  • One-year free subscription for Files on Ovi

Because of reducing the price, Nokia E63 has a poor camera like the E61i version (2.0 MP), no built-in GPS, no USB cable in the package and no pre-installed game, software like E71. I don’t care much about built-in GPS feature because of lacking of the GPS supporting application in my country. But Bluetooth GPS device is fine if you wanna to discovery your own world with E63

The phone without full QUERTY keyboard is terrible for me, so this E63 make me feel good to compose SMS by one finger.
